Thankful for day#1

Well I have been reading a lot of blogs lately and I have noticed a trend going on. For the month of November everyday people are posting something they are thankful for. Well I decided to jump on the band wagon and do the same but I am three days behind so I am catching up.
For my day #1 I am thankful for my cellular phone because I live in a different state than all my family and friends that I grew up with. This little device to the left allows and helps me keep in contact with the people I love and miss dearly! I text, call, and send pictures often to share the happenings of my life and their lives. I must say it is a great invention!

This is how I am feeling right now....

This is how I am feeling right now. Let me tell you it is not any fun whatsoever. Last night I started getting a runny nose. I couldn't breathe all last night and snored very loudly. I had a headache about the size of the United States, mucus in my throat, ears that hurt, a sore throat, and felt like I wanted to die.
Well today isn't any better. I still feel like crap and I have a ton of stuff today. So I can't just be lazy I have to do tons and tons of homework, clean my house, do laundry, and dishes all before Monday. Let's just say my Saturday hasn't been the best.

Crafty

Last night in my ward we had enrichment night and we made this craft which is pictured above. Normally I am not a very crafty person but I am quite pleased how this turned out. As you can tell on one side it says BOO! and on the other side of the blocks it says FALL. It really was quite easy. All you need is:
  • 4 wooden blocks but to any size you want
  • festive paper
  • letters that are cut out
  • one paint brush
  • mod podge

This craft can be done with any holiday. I really had a great time doing it!

Pumpkin Painting!!!

It is October. With October comes Halloween. With Halloween comes pumking carving. Well in the Purcell family we like to do things different so we decided to paint pumpkins instead. It takes less time and is not as messy. So Randy, me, my mother-in-law, and father-in-law got together and spent some great time painting a family of pumpkins. It was a ton of fun and we just laughed and talked. We painted five pumpkins all together and then randy and I took them home and put them on our porch! Now we have a family of pumpkins named DAD, MOM, GLORIA, GEORGE, and CHARLIE.

Mom and Dad painting their pumpkins.

Randy all smiles enjoying his pumpkin painting.

All of us with the pumpkins we painted.

I am not the biggest fan of Halloween but I love to follow tradition and do pumpkin carving/painting. It was a great way to spend some quality time with family. I am so glad that we live close to family and can go over to their house whenever we want!

Stupid Light!!!!

Okay it is early on a Monday morning. This week is already going to be hectic with school, work, and homework. My philosophy is if your Monday morning starts off bad then it usually means that the rest of the week will follow that same pattern. Well my Monday started off not very good. I got to school and my stupid check engine light came on AGAIN!!! This is the second time in about three months. And it just stays on for however long it wants. Usually it just means a light bulb is burnt out or something simple. I just don't want to have to deal with this lol.
I personally think that if a light is going to come on in a car it needs to tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be fixed. The check engine light could be any number of things. I just had to vent that I really hate that light.

I Can Do Hard Things

Recently I was reading this blog that I came across about a young couple who lossed their 18 month old baby in a water accident. This happened about 4 months ago. The short version is this little girl fell into a canal and was rescued by a farmer who found her. She was taken to EIRMC but then flown to PCMC in Salt Lake. She was there for about a week but then returned home to her Heavenly Father.

This post is not only about that sweet little girl whom I have never met but also her parents, who I also have never met, it is about the strength they have and the trial they are enduring. While I was reading this blog I was crying my eyes out as though I was experiencing it with this family. It truly touched my heart and helped to strengthen my testimony. The saying "I CAN DO HARD THINGS" was on this blog and it got me to thinking. I can to hard things no matter what it is. If I have the help of the Savior on my side I can do anything.

The mother and father enduring the trial of their daughter made me think of myself and my future as a mother. I hope that I have half of the strength they have. The gospel is such an amazing thing. Without it I have no idea where I would be. A quote by Neal A. Maxwell comes to mind. It says, "Rather than simply passing through trials, we must allow trials to pass through us in ways that santify us. Trying to comprehend the trials and meaning of this life without understanding Heavenly Father's marvelously encompassing plan of salvation is like tryin to undertand a three-act play while seeing only the second act. Fortunately, our knowledge of the Savior, Jesus Christ, and His Atonement helps us endure our trials and to see purpose in suffering and to trust God for what we cannot comprehend."

The scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 121:7-8 that says, "My son, peace be unto they soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all they foes." Just a little gospel message I wanted to share with you. Be grateful for the time you have with your loved ones and don't take them for granted, you never know when they will leave this earth. Live each day to the fullest! My thoughts and prayers are with this young family in there time of need.

Spud Harvest 2010

In the state of Idaho potatoes are the thing to grow. Randy's uncle Bart is a farmer. Randy had the opportunity to drive spud truck for the harvest. We went up to Goshen(which is west of Firth) to start the grand adventure. Randy was really excited because he hasn't driven before. I really think if he had the patience he would have been a farmer. I didn't get to see Randy actually drive because I had to get home early and finish a ton of homework. While I was there these are some of the pictures I took. We mostly hung out in the cellar waiting for people to come and start digging. It was really cool because I had never seen an almost empty potato cellar before. They are HUGE! Randy was gathering potatoes to bring back home. It was a ton of fun and spud harvest in Idaho is a big thing. So next time you are enjoying potato chips think of IDAHO!

The almost empty cellar. See how long it is.

Here is a huge pile of spuds.

MY SISTERS

I just wanted to give a quick shoutout to my awesome and amazing sisters. I was able to go see them this last weekend and just spend time with them and my family. I get to see them pretty often for living three hours away. We talk all the time and catch up. I just wanted to let them know that I love them and that I am so grateful that they are my sisters. I love you guys!

A True Hero

My cousin Bobby has left for his second tour in Iraq. He left last Tuesday and will be back next September. I just wanted to take the time and thank Bobby and all the other men and women in our armed forces. They put their lives on the line everyday for us so that we can have our freedoms. All I can say is that someone has to do it and I am thankful for those people who are braver than me, you guys are all wonderful. Me and Randy, my grandma, and Bobby's parents all went to the airport to see him off. It was an emotional and trying experience. Of course I cried because that is what I do. But I had an unforgettable experience as well. While I was at the airport I was looking around at all the other men and women leaving with my cousin and just thought to myself wow. I thought of all the other families and saw the love and tears while saying goodbye. We got to see all of them walk out of the hangar and load the plane. They took off and were gone. God Bless our troops! We love you!

Greatest Husband EVER!!!

I just wanted to give a shout out to my husband, best friend, confident and so many other things. This guy pictured above is my whole world and I don't know what I would do without him. I love that he loves me for me, including all my flaws and annoying things I do or have. I love that he doesn't care how I look because he tells me everyday that I am beautiful. I love that he supports me and encourages me to pursue my dreams no matter what. I love that he does things with me even though he may not really want to. I love that he watches and loves the same shows I do. I love that he stays up late with me to have One Tree Hill marathons even though he has to get up early to go to work or school. He is the best thing that ever was mine and I am never letting him get away. I love you Randy!
